Creative Nails

Hey guys, I thought I would share with you my brand new spiffy evil eye nails -That's a mouthful- I've been wanting to paint my nails like this since seeing them featured on the NastyGal Instagram account. I think they turned out okay, for not being done by a professional.
If you've seen my nails lately you would know that a big trend I've been trying my best to stick to is the art of having unique nails. I loved seeing variations of them on the runway and I think these are so fun and witty! They remind me alot of the Count Olaf eyes from a series of unfortunate events, I loved those books as a kid. These are also really fun to play around with, as you will soon see in my "Skype picture" (down below) and I have to say, I think I will keep this nail look for a while.
I can't believe I'm uploading this, but why try and hide the ridiculously weird characteristics of my personality.  \/ That's who I am. Embrace it world. ahah, I'm obviously having a blast with these nails.
I hope that picture made your day, till next time! xx : )

Back with a LouLou Magazine Event Update!

Today, as I had mentioned in a previous post I went to the LouLou Magazine event at the mall. I registered for the event not knowing what was going to happen, so, basically I was completely unprepared (and camera-less). It turned out to be a fashion show, on the sides they had free Davids Tea samples, sushi, MAC makeovers and photographers. Janelle and I got our picture taken and they edited it to make it look like we were in this months issue of LouLou (picture down below). It was fun, the fashion show was a collection of outfits that were put together with things that could be found at the mall. They had a lot of raffles and at the end I got a swag bag for registering online. Here are some of the pictures that Janelle was oh so kind to let me have for the sake of this post, along with pictures of the items I got in my swag bag. I'm excited to try out that mascara it's supposed to help your eyelashes grow. I would post the brand name but it's not labeled Roots Cell/iPod case. This is so nice! I love the soft leather, really good that it came with a coupon for 20% off. My favourite chocolates in the whole world! Smells delicious, sweet but not "candy" sweet, I want to buy this one for sure Batiste Dry Shampoo, Yves Rocher shower gel and lotion, John Frieda Blonde Colour renew tone correcting shampoo So many gift cards and vouchers! They accidentally put two $25 gift cards to the mall in my bag as opposed to the one everyone else got (but hey, I ain't complaining). Menchies 5$ gift card, Joe Fresh 5$ gift card, boathouse 5$ gift card, some cream testers, a redeemable free Davids Tea coupon, and more vouchers galore. I atleast have a reason to go to the mall now. Till next time! xx

Recent purchases -LUSH, BB Cream and Studs

On monday, I took a trip downtown to help my friend, Audrey with some shopping and I felt the need to get a few purchases of my own out of the way.  We stopped by Lush and the Leather & Sewing Supply Depot to buy some beauty products and studs. I want to share what I bought and I guess, review them as well. At Lush I stocked up on some much needed Angels On Bare Skin -it is by far the best cleanser I have ever used. I got a sample of this a little while ago and loved it but I had just bought another Aveno cleanser so I thought it would be best to finish that one first before purchasing this Lush one. I don't know why I didn't just throw the Aveno one away, this cleanser helps my skin almost instantly. You definitely feel it after the first wash! For those of you who are not familiar with Lush's products I'll give you a little rundown. This company makes fresh, natural, homemade cosmetics using a 100% vegetarian recipe, they are also 81% vegan, and 70% preservative-free. If that doesn't sound good enough, most of their packaging is recyclable! Angels on Bare skin helps soften and balance skin, "the kaolin clay base deep cleanses while ground almonds gently exfoliate the dead skin away. Rose and lavender are added to soothe and help balance out combination skin." -The lush website. I Recommend this product because it is compatible with all skin types and because you can buy it pre-packaged or weighed, you ultimately decide how much you want or how much you want to pay (I got mine pre-packaged at $14.76). If you want to try it out (I did because of my sensitive skin) you can ask a sales associate for a tester! The lovely sales Associate was kind enough to offer me a tester of Dark Angels as well: Haven't had the chance to try it yet but I heard its great for sucking out all that pesky dirt from your pores. I heard it's messier to use because of the coal, black sugar and powdered charcoal. I'll give you guys a review once I try it. This wasn't purchased at Lush or the Leather & Sewing Supply Depot but it's a product I've heard a lot about in the last few weeks, the miraculous BB cream. BB stands for Blemish Bomb or Beauty Bomb, it's not a foundation, although it does have coverage. The sole purpose of a BB cream is to eliminate the process of applying various products, this product, is said to do it all. For the price of $12 (something) I thought why not give it a try? (purchased at Wal-Mart) Not really loving the nozzle, I would prefer a pump but it is what it is. As far as first impressions go it does have a very creamy texture, feels really light, and has light coverage. It has that signature Garnier scent and the shade suits me well. It only comes in 2 shades (Light/Medium & Medium/Dark) but from the reviews I've seen on youtube it does a decent job of matching peoples skin tones. This BB cream is said to renew radiance, brighten complexion, even out skin tone and imperfections, hydrate for 24 hrs, and protect the skin. We'll see how this goes. These are the studs I bought from the Leather & Sewing Supply Depot which I will talk about individually. The store is located  at 7 Vanauley St. near Queen and Spadina. Before going to this store I checked out prices elsewhere (as the smart shopper I am), another store was selling half the amount of studs you'd get at L&SSD for the same price, so you can see why I would bring my business here. They have a large selection, including rounded studs, and spikes in all different kinds of finishes. I got 100 of these mini shiny silver studs for $2.99 I got 50 of these medium sized shiny silver studs for $2.99 ( I got two packages) I got 50 of these medium sized light oxidized studs for $2.99 (I got two packages) and I got 50 of these large silver studs for $4.99 I know I could probably get more studs online for less than what I paid but I really don't have the time to wait for the shipping and from the websites I saw, it would take about 2 weeks to get here. I hope you found this helpful, whether you're looking to buy studs somewhere in Toronto or have been looking for a new cleanser. Talk to you all soon! xx

I've got some catching up to do + a thrifting haul

Hey guys! I realize I haven't updated in an unacceptable amount of time, for that, I apologize. In my defence the last few months of school were insane, but (on a brighter note) I finished my first year of university! (insert cheering here). I spent a good week after that just getting my body calibrated back to normal with some R & R but I'm back on track (insert cheering here as well). It would be ridiculous to try and give a full update so I'll keep it short and simple. Since my last post I have:
  • Finished my dress for school which was awarded the "Marketability of Design" award (I'll post pictures of that sometime soon).
  • Begun plans on a new Youtube segment called Broke but Creative (if you steal this idea, I'll be after you)
  • Organized and put my life together.
  • Listened to One Direction an unhealthy amount of times (I'm obsessed, don't judge me).
These last few weeks I have also thrifted so much that I've begun a second "closet" on the side of my room. About 90% of the things that I bought, won't be featured in this post because I am going to have them featured in future DIY posts, so stay tuned for that! Till then I thought I could share some of the things I've found here. vintage mirror painted white vintage mirror I painted white $4Vintage fur collar Vintage Rabbit Fur Collar $4vintage purse $2 Vintage Purse $2 This purse is so unique and different, although not in the best condition, I want to try and fix it up Free People Lace Top $2 Doesn't look the best laying there all limp and lifeless, I agree... but when you put it on it looks SO nice! Collar $4 Shoes $4 The picture doesn't do these justice but they are brand new suede shoes in mint condition! Extremely comfortable too! I love them so much! Purse $2 Leotard $2Not the best picture but it seriously looks amazing worn, the sheer on the back dips low on the back with a cut down the middle that meets at the top. One of my favourites, I'm considering adding studs to the bodice on the cups (not sure yet) Vintage fabric and leather $3 each[/caption] This leather is AMAZING! Super soft! I can't believe I got it for $3, I have enough to make a pair of shorts and a skirt!!! AHH! I'M EXCITED Sheer crop top with peter pan collar $2.. again, looks amazing once worn! Would look great paired with a high waisted skirt or a nice pair of high waisted shorts. Books $2 each[/caption] So excited to have a line up of books for the summer! It's always good to buy recycled books too! Sewing Machine $5
Yea, I'm amazed too. Can't believe I got this for $5! It's super cute and old, I love the shiny handles and it works GREAT! It has a lot of similarities to the industrial sewing machines I use at school. Hope you enjoyed seeing what I was able to find for less than $5! These were all purchased at thrift stores and at a rummage sale I went to a few weeks ago. I'm going to be posting a beauty post soon and an update on the Lou Lou Magazine event I'm going to tomorrow! till then! xx
