Skin, I Give Up - Bring on the Big Guns

This was taken sometime in high school, pretty sure I wasn't wearing foundation...
I didn't even own a concealer at the time.

Once upon a time, when life was carefree and beautiful, I had perfect skin.

Then a horrible monster called "University Life" came into the picture and blew my perfect skin out of the water. At the time I didn't understand what was happening. I'm now in my second year of University and I haven't had clear skin for longer than a few weeks at a time. I'm just scared it'll get worse so I've called the big huncho's in,

The Dermatologist.

I have my first appointment at the end of the month (AFTER they rescheduled from December 4th) so we'll see how this goes! Quite honestly I've given up with dealing with trial and error products. My skin might not even seem so bad (from pictures) but if you've noticed I haven't filmed in a while or posted a picture without the wonders of makeup. My skin was getting clear too, Mexico was doing me good! I blame the flight over!

This post is really just my way of being honest with you guys. I wanted to share this with you all because maybe some of you are going through the same thing (I know a lot of my friends are), or maybe you have any products, at-home remedy recommendations for me. This is also my way of remembering the bad. Maybe in a few months I can look back at this and then update you with how I achieved perfect skin (with the help of my dermatologist).

***I wrote this a week before I published it and at the time my skin was not looking it's best... It's gotten significantly better since but I still can't wait to go meet my dermatologist!***

Heart Shape Elbow Patches - DIY

I had seen a picture of a sweater with cute heart elbow patches on the LFsoho Intsagram account and I would have LOVED to go to the store to buy it but seeing as the closest store is in New York City I had to look into the possibility of re-creating this myself.

And so I came up with this little DIY tutorial for all of you to check out. I think it's such a cute way for you to spruce up any boring sweaters or long sleeve shirts. The greatest thing about this? It cost me a total of $5 to re-create... including the sweater. That is why it's a part of my Broke But Creative series. I hope you all enjoy it and try it out!

Supplies:
  1. Sweater (I got the Joe Fresh sweater thrifted for about $4)
  2. Elbow Iron-On Patches (I got mine at the dollar store)
  3. Scissors
  4. Paper
  5. A pencil
  6. A Piece of Chalk
  7. A Few Pins
  8. An Iron
The instructions will all be featured in the video down below:

Thanks for reading and watching! xx :)

My New Years Resolutions

I've been thinking long and hard on what I want to accomplish this year. I've honestly never been one to make "New Years Resolutions" and from what I know, people that do either 1) become overly committed at the start of the years and then slowly fall back to the nature of their ways or 2) claim they'll make a change but never follow through.

I've never met someone who's said on New Years Eve, "WOW, I actually followed through with my resolution for this year, I CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE A NEW ONE!!" ... or maybe I just know lazy people.

I think what's made me want to change my "anti-resolution" ways is knowing that failing is okay and this is really just for fun. I don't want to commit myself to this idea of extreme change. Just things that will make me happy and accomplished. In the end, that's all we want right? To have a happy new year!

These took me a while to think about but I came up with a list of personal goals I want to follow through on, these are really to help me feel my happiest and personal best but I've also included a few which I think will help you make changes in your lives.

1) Get rid of the unnecessary - As soon as I arrive home and hop off my 6 hour flight I want to look through old papers, clothes and shoes and get rid of what I don't need. My rule is, if I haven't worn or used it in six months, it has to go. I already did this with all the files on my laptop and it's honestly a huge sigh of relief. ---"Out of sight, out of mind"

2)Get rid of negative people - I got to do this two years ago and I feel like it has been one of the best things to ever happen to me. Two years ago there were a couple of people in my life that weren't as supportive and honestly didn't really let me be... well, me. Having them out of my life has made me realize the people in my life  are seriously so supportive and truly accept me for being the weird, awkward, clumsy and silly person I am. Why would you bother being friends with such negative people? This doesn't have to be a resolution to get rid of fake friends but maybe ex-boyfriends, bullies, people that just get in the way of your happiness.

3)Just do it - Take a life lesson from Nike, there's nothing worse than regretting not doing something. There's a few things in my life that scare me  but whenever that happens I just push the negative thoughts out of my mind and go for it. That's how I started this blog and my Youtube channel, I was scared of what my friends would think of me making videos but then I figured. This is my life. Not theirs and if they have a problem with what I'm doing, they're not real friends. It's all about doing what YOU want no matter how scared you might be, in the end you will be so proud of yourself!!

4) Make your body happy - This doesn't mean, go to the gym and lose x amount of pounds. My goal is to eat healthier and workout to stay fit. Right now, I walk up a flight of stairs and feel like I need to take a 5 minute break. The epitome of health... Working out can genuinely make you feel so much happier, because your body will feel happier and energized!

5) Find the time do the things you love - This is one of the biggest resolutions for me. I really LOVE to blog and make youtube videos and I feel like all my favourite bloggers and youtubers are always posting so much more content than I am. In some ways I feel like I'm really slacking but realizing that most youtubers and bloggers make videos and blog posts for a LIVING has helped me realize that I don't have to match the amount of content they post. I intern and go to school full time and although it may not seem like a 5 minute video takes up a lot of my time, it totally does! The amount of time it takes to plan, film, and edit a video can take up to a whole day or more. All those youtubers make videos professionally and have the time to do so. I don't want to stop blogging and posting videos, and although I PLAN on posting more this new year, I'm okay with knowing that my updates will have to happen when I can fit it into my schedule and not because I HAVE to post on a weekly basis.

6) Travel - "Life is a book and those who don't travel only read one chapter" I couldn't agree more with that statement. I love to travel and I hope I can fit in a few small trips this new year. Travelling can enrich your life so much! I'm typing this up right now as I'm in Mexico so I suppose I'm off to a good start.

7) Save Money - I will admit my savings fund is lacking and I'm not saying I won't spend any money but I will seriously consider every purchase I make. Thinking back to my other resolution of "Getting rid of the unnecessary" I feel its only suitable for me to not fall back into having a closet full of unnecessary items. My plans are to think of all my new purchases as investments; how much wear can I get from this? Can I wear it in multiple seasons? Will the quality last? By asking myself these questions, I'll have less "unnecessary items" and more money (that I can perhaps use to travel?)

That's it for my resolutions, I hope some of you may have found them helpful! Before this post gets too long I want to know, what are your New Years Resolutions?

I've Moved!

If you're wondering, I was (badly) illustrating Cara Delevingne....

Yes, I have moved. After dealing with the pains of wordpress I thought I might as well switch over to blogger. Honestly, It was a love/hate relationship with wordpress.

Things I Won't Miss:
  • The horrible layout options
  • Everything about writing posts
  • The fact that I was the only loner from all my blogging friends on wordpress
  • The horrible layout options

Things I'll Miss:
  • the friendly congratulatory messages when you complete little milestones
  • the sleek dashboard

I had to manually transfer over all my blog posts and unfortunately had to leave behind all the likes and comments but it's a (somewhat) fresh start and that in itself is worth the change!

I can't wait to start the new Blogger venture! xx

The Instagram Diary

Hello world, I'm currently ABSOLUTELY swamped with assignments but I thought I could spare the time to give you a little update through the only social network that I have been updating on the go, Instagram. I actually love Instagram so much and hopefully once I change cell phone providers I will be able to update it some more (Blame Rogers - but we won't get into that because I could write pages on complaints)
Till next time xx

Adrian Wu Fashion Week Launch party

Brooke (http://thegoldenfox-brookelebel.blogspot.ca) and I

Who else goes to a Fashion Week Launch party and misses out on all the fashion shows?.... this girl. I have been catching up on style circle though! A few close friends of mine at school run the site, check it out for all Toronto Fashion Week updates! I unfortunately didn't get the chance to spare some time to hit up the runways this week but I was able to go to Adrian Wu's Launch party at the Thompson Hotel. It was lovely! Nice rooftop views, some mingling and some fashion talk. There may have been a few male models as well... I wouldn't know. I was too busy mopping the drool off the floor. I thought I would share some of my photo's from the night with you guys!

Some friends and lovely people I met picture taken by (http://www.katyakoroscilphotography.com)

My first year of being legal to attend a fashion show (you must be 19) and I missed out. C'est la vie. Next season, I'm buying my Fashion week all access pass, and I won't miss a single one. A little promise to myself. Till Next time! xx

Conquering the Intern world sans the coffee runs.

Just a little update post to say that I'm the new Editorial Intern at Faze Magazine! AHH! soo exciting!!! I'm loving it so far! Unlike most of my friends that intern, I don't do coffee runs. I actually get to write up content for the magazine! I'm so happy that I'm able to be a part of such a great magazine! Tomorrow I even get to sit in on one of the interviews with an artist that I love! I won't say who (because I don't think I can say), but I've seen her live in concert so tomorrow should be absolutely incredible! That being said, I haven't posted too much here and now with this exciting internship I probably won't be able to post as much as I would like to but I'll be around! I've also updated my Youtube ...so if you REALLY miss me, I will most likely be posting there more frequently. Sidenote: You can also purchase Faze through subscriptions or at Chapters and Indigo! :) Other Sidenote: I've changed my layout... yet AGAIN. This is just temporary until I can find yet ANOTHER one. Finding a good layout is the same to me as one who tries to find a perfect boyfriend.
